The Socio-Cultural Impress on the Promotion of Self-Directed-Learning in Algerian Universities

The Algerian universities have witnessed significant changes since the establishment of three-tier system composed Licence, Master, and Doctorate (LMD). latter necessitates many in learning process as well teaching methods. Yet, to achieve self-directed learning, learner should first autonomy at personal level. Thus, this paper is mainly devoted analyzing impress cultural social traditions on development learning. This study addresses following question: Do enhance facilitate or impede its implementation university? main aim investigate aspects culture that hinder promotion research has been conducted Saida University among Master students. To socio-cultural impact self-directedness, researcher used a questionnaire an interview was related Hofstede’s six-D Model. Discussing through lens Model helped diagnose reasons behind failure promote self-directedness. finding collectivist nature retards progress also suggests if does not favor educators adopt new approaches strategies engage their learners experiences. Educators counterbalance parochial paternalistic with glocalization multiple perspective curricula.
